I started cycling six years ago joining Cycological’s weekly hybrid group. I quickly got the bug, purchasing my first road bike three years later. About the same time I started running, winning a number of local events. Then with a lot of support from the Amigos group, I decided to enter my first triathlon, The Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research Blenheim Palace Triathlon, which I completed successfully. I enjoyed it so much, next year, I‘ve entered a duathlon and a double triathlon.

I met the Amigos in July 2015 via their Amigos del Ciclismo website. It was perfect to where we were staying in Quesada and I was immediately struck by their welcome on a very well organised club run. David Garside loaned me a great wee Dawes bike which was a pleasure to ride. The Amigo's invited my wife Anne Marie and I to their evening dinner and we had a great night's crack which included telling tall tales and some good old fashion Irish banter, especially from that Dublin fella! We look forward to meeting up in 2016.

Never won anything on a bicycle
